Overview
The Graduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology at UEL (PPG-GBM) has over 30 years of existence and it is one the most important graduate programs in Genetics in Paraná, due to its regional impacts on the training of professionals in this field. Londrina and the other over 20 neighbouring towns have a diversified economy, influenced by industries, local commerce, building construction, tourism, higher education institutions, services, and agribusiness. The Graduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology plays a strong role in training professionals for these last three sectors, which is reflected in the admission of our graduates into the labour market. The program historically contributes to the high ranking-position occupied by the State University of Londrina, amongst the best universities in the country, as well as for the quality of life in the Northern Region of Paraná. The objective of the PPG-GBM is to train high-level professionals in the area of Genetics and Molecular Biology, who can work in the areas of environment, agronomy, and health, in public and private higher education in Paraná and in others states, as well as in various other sectors of the production chain.
