II – Reserved for people self-declared black (black and mulatto), totaling 30%.

III – Supplementary for self-declared indigenous, transgender, and disabled people, totaling 10%.

The supplementary vacancies will be automatically created in case there are indigenous, transgender, and disabled candidates.

Selection:

The selection of candidates will be the responsibility of the Coordinating Committee and faculty members of the Program, and will consist of the following stages and respective weights:

Oral presentation of the thesis pre-projects (weight 03).

Argumentation (weight 04).

Analysis of the Curriculum vitae, scored by the candidate according to the punctuation table described in the previous topic (weight 03).

About the punctuation of the Curriculum vitae:

The candidate must score his/her resume, according to the scoring table.

All the information it contains must be proven. For example, the candidate should include photocopies of a work contract, internship certificates, abstracts published in conference proceedings, published articles, etc. In case of papers that have been accepted for publication, a copy of the paper and the acceptance letter from the journal and/or editor must be attached.

Information that is not proven will not be considered for the curriculum score.

The minimum score to be assigned to the Curriculum vitae will obey the scoring criteria determined by the Program’s Coordinating Commission.

The final score for each Curriculum vitae will be computed from the following equation, where:

Nc = final mark for the analysis of the candidate’s Curriculum vitae.

Nmax = score up to 10.0 (ten) that the examining board considers fair for the candidate who obtained the highest score.

Nmin = the mark the board considers fair for the candidate who obtained the lowest score.

Pc = score obtained by the candidate in the analysis of the Curriculum vitae, based on the template.

Pmax = highest score, obtained among the Curricula vitae of all the candidates.

Pmin = lowest score, obtained among the Curricula vitae of all the candidates.

About the scoring of the pre-project and the exam:

The grades for the presentation of the pre-draft and the discussion will result from the average of the grades given by the members of the Examining Committee.

After computing the grades, a final average will be attributed to the candidate, considering the weights discriminated above.

The filling of the Doctorate vacancies in the Program will be based on the final average of the approved candidates and they will be classified according to the number of vacancies pre-established by the advisor.

The approved candidates who are not able to fill the advisor’s available position will be placed on a supplementary list.

In this list, the advisor will be entitled to one additional student, respecting the students’ classification, as well as the vacancy limit of the Program and each advisor. The advisor may or may not accept this additional student and, if not accepted, this approved candidate will be placed on a substitute list.

Candidates will compete for the chosen vacancies, not being allowed to change advisors after disclosure of the result of the selection process.

The Graduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology has received scholarships from CAPES and Fundação Araucária, but not enough to meet the demand.
