For accreditation, the coordination evaluates the candidates as to the insertion of the projects in the PPG’s research lines, the potential contribution of the professors in terms of workload in the classroom, time since graduation, projects approved with funding sources, and nucleation capacity (career production versus H index versus production with students). To the newly accredited, the PPG allows Ph.D. thesis supervision after having supervised at least a master’s degree, with a publication with the same student in journals qualified by CAPES. As for the rules for suspension of accreditation, the coordinating commission adopts it when the professor presents:
i) low scientific production or production without PPG students, ii) does not guide the quadrennium, iii) does not regularly offer vacancies for Master’s and Doctoral degrees, iv) does not deliver activity reports, v) does not update the Lattes Resumé, whenever requested by the PPG, vi) does not participate in the self-assessment process, according to the Postgraduate Institutional Self-Assessment Plan, and vii) does not comply with the established deadlines for qualification and defense, as determined by the coordination.
Accreditation requests must be sent directly to the program’s coordinating committee, upon presentation of the following documents.
1-proof of the title of doctor or equivalent.
2- letter expressing the intention of accreditation and the capacity of financial viability to ensure the development of dissertations and thesis.
3- proposal of a discipline to be taught annually or bi-annually.
4- Lattes Resumé with, at least, publication of four scientific articles in the last four years being, at least two articles with impact factor equal to or greater than 2.0, or equivalent to category B1, according to CAPES rules for CB-1.
5- Set of articles published in the period (four-year period), whose sum of FI/4 is equal to the median of the sum of FI/NP/Year of the Program (calculated for each corresponding four-year period).
The coordinating committee of the program will be responsible for
1- To issue an opinion on the accreditation process or not of the proponent.
2- Checking if the teacher is accredited in another program and what his/her real contribution to the program is.
3- Checking whether the applicant’s lines of research fit in with the program’s lines of research and whether the intended line of research supports the accreditation of more advisors.
Only Ph.D. advisors who have already had a master’s degree advising (at least one) defended and approved.
