The PPGEL’s commitment to inclusion involves actions developed in partnership with the Accessibility Center (NAC), which works to remove physical, architectural, methodological, and attitudinal barriers at UEL. The NAC provides educational support to students who are the target audience of special education and are enrolled in on-campus undergraduate and graduate programs. It also suggests differentiated teaching and learning procedures and works in collaboration with academic departments.

To this end, the program reserves specific slots for the following groups:

I – 30% (thirty percent) for self-declared Black individuals (Black and Brown);

II – 5% (five percent) for self-declared Indigenous individuals;

III – 5% (five percent) for self-declared individuals with disabilities.

Currently, PPGEL has 6 self-declared Black students and 1 Indigenous student. At the moment, there are no students with disabilities, but the program has previously included a graduate student with a hearing impairment. In such cases, the university provides Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) interpreters to support deaf students during classes and other interactions requiring this mediation. Moreover, assessment processes take into account the specific needs of this community.

Resolution CEPE No. 034/2021 – establishes the reservation of slots in the selection processes for UEL’s Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs.
