PPGA History and Evolution

The history of the PPGA at the State University of Londrina (UEL) began over a decade before its official creation. In the 1990s, professors from the Administration Departments of UEL and the State University of Maringá (UEM) collaborated to establish a postgraduate program, which preceded the PPGA. Between 1998 and 1999, they developed a technical project for a joint program between the two universities, approved by CAPES/MEC. This initiative, launched on September 14, 1999, was called the Postgraduate Program in Administration (PPA), and it operated as a consortium between UEL and UEM for nine years, alternating semesters at each institution.

This consortium played a pivotal role in advancing research, studies, and academic experience at UEL, laying the groundwork for the future PPGA. The program fostered the development of research in Administration, with a focus on institutional, organizational, and management approaches to social and environmental issues. These efforts culminated in the creation of a new master’s program in 2009, centered on Management and Sustainability.

Officially established on March 19, 2009, by UEL’s Teaching, Research, and Extension Council (CEPE), the PPGA was approved by CAPES/MEC. The program, offering an academic master’s degree, was designed with a curriculum that integrates diverse epistemological and methodological perspectives, enabling in-depth exploration of organizations, management, and sustainability.

In 2020, to mark its 10th anniversary, the PPGA conducted a strategic review, leading to a restructured program in 2021. This update introduced a new concentration area focused on the interrelationships between Organizations, Management, and Society while maintaining sustainability as a transversal theme. Two research lines were defined: Organizational Management and Organizations, Power, and Society, ensuring alignment with the evolving research interests of faculty and students.
