The Program

The Graduate Program in Health Sciences was founded in 2010 with the objective to offer students qualification in higher education, in research (basic and clinical) and professional training in Health Sciences.

It is a multidisciplinary program that brings together professors with different backgrounds (biologists, biomedical researchers, clinicians, pharmacists, physical therapists, physical education professionals, surgeons) that develop researches in different areas of Health Sciences. We reached the grade 5 (out of 7) in the last evaluation conducted by CAPES, the federal agency responsible for the evaluation of graduate programs in Brazil.

Application and Admission

Higher diploma holders in the areas of Life Sciences, Health Sciences and related areas may apply to the Graduate Program in Health Sciences. The application process generally occurs in November but you may find updated information under the topic “Editais” clicking here.

For application, the candidate must present:

1) A certificate of proficiency in English. The accepted certificates and the minimum score for each test can be consulted here.

2) A research project written under the supervision of the possible advisor following the format available here.

3) A curriculum vitae following the format available here and the score sheet fulfilled.

4) An acceptance letter in which one of the advisors from our Program states that accepts to supervise the candidate in case he/she is approved. A model from the acceptance letter is available here.

After application, candidates will be submitted to:

5) A writing test designed to evaluate candidate´s skills to interpret graphics, figures, tables, statistical results.

6) An interview in which the candidate will present the Project and answer questions about it.

At the end of the admission process, the grade of 6 (out of 10) is the cut off value for classification.
