The Particles and Fields group has been working at the interface between quantum field theory (TQC) and condensed matter, with works published in established journals in the field, such as the Journal of High Energy Physics, Physical Review B, Physical Review D and Physical Review Letters. The group has been interested in non-perturbative methods in QFT, such as 1/N expansion, the bosonization procedure, conformal invariance, dualities, and topological quantum field theory. These topics are versatile tools to describe relevant aspects of physical systems such as phase transitions and topological sorting. The group has established a network and collaborations with researchers from the University of Boston (USA) and from the Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland), where students have been welcomed for doctoral stays (Sandwich Doctorate).
